British Country Airplay (BCA) –  Artiste of the Year Award 2019

Earlier in the year, we asked you to nominate your favourite UK Country Artiste and you all voted in your hundreds in the hope that your choice would become the 2019 BCA Artiste of the Year.

Sponsored by the Buckle and Boots Festival in Manchester and Steve’s Country Road radio show, this is a People’s Choice award, as we continue our aim promoting British Country Artistes.  This will always be chosen by the people who support Country music, here in the UK.

In September, the nominations were shortlisted down to your Top 5, and for that month, it became a nail-biting race to the finish.

Finally, in the end, we have our winner.  But it was ever so close. With only 23 votes between the first and second place nominated artistes.

So the British Country Airplay – Artiste of the Year for 2019 is…

Katie O’Malley

Steve and Susanne had arranged pop into Manchester to surprise Katie with her award, at the ‘Cream of the Crop’ event, which was hosted by Bread Records. But unfortunately, she had to cancel due to train cancellation.  So we have arranged a date for the presentation.

Katie began gigging at 17 and with a husky yet powerful vocal; she became a regular favourite on the Manchester music scene.  Her hip-swaying Americana band has played across the country at a long list of shows and festivals.  They have received radio airplay from BBC Introducing Manchester and country stations throughout the UK, America and Australia.

The BCA would like to wish Katie every success for the future.

We would also like to thank everyone who nominated and voted their favourite artistes and remind you that we will open nominations again sometime in 2020, to find our next British Country Artiste of the Year.
